DETAILS

We will be studying the fundamentals of calligraphy, starting with posture and how to hold a pen. We will learn the hand commonly known as Copperplate plus a brief introduction to other hands. The following topics will be covered: Nibs, writing paper, shading, spacing making lines, corrections, titivillius, light tablet, flourishing, pencil layouts, computer layouts, erasing shields and workable fix. This is a hands on class and one must take time to practice between classes. Since the class is small, individual help will be available. Class is limited to 7 students.

Instructor:

My teaching name is Dr. Bob. I have been teaching and studying calligraphy for over 40 years. I am a member of Pen Dragons of Kalamazoo; IAMPETH (International Association of Master Penman, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting, plus I took the year long broad edge pen class taught by Reggie EzelI. I began my career as a schoolteacher and teaching is my avocation.
