Close workshop:
Flowing into Watercolor
September 17-18, 2011
This was a two day workshop covering color fundamentals, creativity and elements of good
design. Techniques covered included wet washes, blending, scratching and
use of Saran for textures. Also, china marker resist, salt and sesame
seed sprinkles, masking tape resist, wadding and ironing paper for
stained glass effect, and alcohol inks on Yupo synthetic paper.
Most people filled 3 sheets of the 16 boxes with various techniques
covered. Images below are a small sampling of the wonderful work created
during this workshop.
Barbara Close Workshop: Textured Letters
Sept. 19, 2011
This was a one day extravaganza of design ideas for versal letters. The
group used Barbara's “Versalettes” and John Stevens Blackletter Versals
as a base and employed a multitude of techniques to fashion versals with
a lot of “wow”.
Irish Fest - 2011
Sept. 16 and 17th
This event was held at the Arcadia Festival Site. The new table skirting
had its debut!! Karen V., Julie K. and Tina did the artwork which began
with group work at the retreat in August.
The prayer flags are a great decoration for the table and provide a bit
of income when people purchase one or several.
