Glories Logo

Opening Reception Sunday, September 28, 2-4 p.m.
Exhibit Times, Tuesday - Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Lettering artists from Michigan and Northern Indiana will showcase their artwork in this juried exhibition, reflecting the marvelous diversity of media and techniques used in the calligraphic arts. Accompanying this exhibition by area calligraphers will be reproductions of pages by Donald Jackson of the St. John's Bible, commissioned by the St. John's Abbey and University of Collegeville, Minnesota. This hand-calligraphed and illuminated manuscript is widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements in calligraphy of our time.

Black & White Challenge

Black and White Challenge open to Pen Dragons members.

This is a separate un-juried exhibit in conjunction with the  "St. John's Bible" and juried "Glories of Calligraphy" exhibits. Select a biblical text(s).

Work on black paper with white ink or white paper with black ink.  The paper should be 8” x 8” and somewhat heavy since these will not be framed – just attached to the wall.  You may even choose to do two (or more). Pieces can be turned in at any time prior to the hanging of the main exhibit the week of September 22.

Following the exhibit, pieces will become the property of Pen Dragons (be sure to keep a copy for yourself!).
